... Thundering Hoofbeats: It's "Candidates #4 & #5!"
Here's the situation report:
On one side we have running for President, a woman, not really liked by many, that seems to claim heritage for the White House along with a scoundrel for a husband that just happens to be an ex-president with stained pants, matched against a charismatic young black senator that has great oratorical skills, but few creds. I guess in Texas they'd say he's "All Hat and No Cattle."
On the other side, we have a seemingly competent gentleman that has reached the age where a beach home in Florida seems more appropriate and who fails to get the excited interest of his party ... but, it's the best they can muster.
It seems to me that the stage is set for The Lone Ranger (or Rangers) to ride in on his (or their respective) white horse(s) and proclaim: "Stop The Fighting" ... I'll Save The Day!"
Frankly, the sooner the better! I'm so tired of turning on the radio/TV/Internet/etc. and hearing an endless stream of "Barack said that Hillary ... "; "The Clinton's said that Obama ..." and-on-and-on-and-on-and-on-and-on-and-on.
So who will sit atop the stallion? (Just heard today the maybe Al Gore is strapping on spurs. If true, I personally hope the horse bucks him off before he get to the arena.)

Well, we'll get what we deserve! It's all moot anyway. George is going to create some crisis, declare martial law under National Security Presidential Directive-51 (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55824), suspend the constitution and cancel the elections. Long live the emperor!
tojbI totally agree with: "we'll get what we deserve!" The rest of your response is pure fantasy world. If you truly believe that, I suggest you move to northern Idaho or Montana, find a big cave and a big gun and sit and wait for the feds to show up. You may wait a very long time.
Thanks for your comments ... all views appreciated.

Cool blog.
But I hate to see your Gore-phobia flare up. The only way he would become the democratic nominee is if Greenland breaks apart in two months. Short of that, the last thing democrats want is another candidate.
Well, maybe the last thing they want is Greenland breaking apart. But Gore is second.
Pure fantasy? Well, we will see. Hope so. I'll bet you think that could never happen. Not in this country, right?
Anon: Yeah, I reaffirm "pure fantasy" ... at least 99.44% certain of that.
Regarding "never happen:" I wouldn't bet the ranch against it, (or anything else, really) but whomever is President would not declare martial law in this country, except under the most dire of circumstances such as a massive nuclear attack or civil war/disturbance of unimaginable nationwide proportions.
George, Hillary, Barack or whomever is NOT going to "create some crisis" just to act like a big shot. For what purpose? This whole thread is so typical of the moronic "Bush blew up the World Trade Centers" mentality.
Regarding your reference link: The headine, "Bush Makes Power Grab" is another typical "hate Bush" headline. If you read the defination of "catastrophic emergency" in your article you would see that it matches up pretty well with my earlier statement.
A much more appropriate (and honest) headline might be: "Bush Makes Plans To Insure Government Functions Under A Catastrophic Emergency."

Ps: Good conversation, Anon ... just a little more reality needed.
OK, so you want to deal with reality. Fine. "'Catastrophic Emergency' means any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions;". This is a quote from the white House web site. So, how might that be interpreted? Regardless of location? Affecting the economy? So, an oil terminal in the kingdom goes up in smoke, the price of oil soars to $200 a barrel, the economy is affected severely (like it hasn't been already?). Does that count? For what purpose would a president do that? Why did Hitler or Stalin? Maybe God will tell George that it is his duty, maybe he hasn't achieved his goals yet. You have to admit, he really believes he is doing the right thing. He is really sure of it. How sure are you?
Wow! When will the constitution be suspended? Before or after the sky starts to fall?
Anonymous: You've been spending too much time at Starbuck's ... your system is over-hyped.
Doesn't this, which you quoted, seem like a situation that requires immediate and decisive action:
"'Catastrophic Emergency' means any incident, regardless of location, that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage, or disruption severely affecting the U.S. population, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions."
It does to me! I would want the President, whomever he or she is, to have the tools at hand to take quick control without trying to round up congress and bicker about what to do.
I was personally involved, as a USAF pilot, when the Cuban missile crisis came to a head. It was a real problem trying to find members of congress and transport them back to Washington DC. Times have changed drastically since then ... we don't have three days to make presentations to a group of grandstanding politicians.
If martial law is ever envoked in the US, I have absolutely NO doubts about the seriousness of the situation and the conpetency of the President to envoke it.
I suggest you CANCEL your subscription to "The President Did It And Lied About It" publication ... you are wasting your money.

Interesting that the mudslinging between Barak and Hilary annoys the mudslinger himself... :)
Have faith, Roger! The next president would have to try quite hard to be as globally, universally hated as the current one.
If it were somehow true that Obama is only a great orator, that would still be an improvement over Dubya.
